My story in 2 minutes
Brief life recap since I started building 🤙
At 14, in May of 2020, my dad was murdered in a double homicide shooting. It instantly flipped a switch in me and I started building. I spent the next couple months developing a gun detection algorithm to call 911 whenever a firearm would be seen on CCTV. This model has since been implemented in a few convenience stores across Canada & the USA.
At 15, I continued to learn & tinker. I built a bunch of more projects, like electrocuting myself when I say um, and co-founded a data analytics startup on BitClout where we hit a $1M market cap. This led me to geting sponsored by Ric Burton to attend ETHLisbon, who then helped me start a non-profit (PadawanDAO) where we raised $500k from notable investors including Vitalik Buterin and Yanviv Tal to get more young hackers into the space and attend conferences like Ric had done for me.
At 16, I started working at Buildspace as one of the first engineers. During my time there, we raised $10M from A16Z and Y-Combinator while growing to over 100,000 users. Every weekend I was also learning by shipping something new in any free time I had. I eventually left Buildspace as my school grades started to plummet - who knew joining a startup and never attending class would do that 😛
At 17, I was able to finish highschool almost entirely online, so I could join a Silicon Valley based startup Bifrost (YC22). I was able to spend a bit of my senior year in-person with the team, and then a few months living nomadically with friends in Costa Rica and Dubai. While travelling I was always building something, and even got featured in a Fireship video 🙉
(i'm now 20, sharing my story less & building more. updates soon 🤞)
